Finding Inspiration

As a fashion hairstylist one is always trying to create something new and to constantly be inspired. This is a very interesting balancing act. On one hand we look at amazing photographers such as Erwin Blumenfeld, Helmut Newton and Richard Avedon and they had really set this standard of breaking the mold. Now the funny thing about this is that we then want to recreate this in some form or fashion. As we see everything is created and re-created. The re-creation process may be artistic in some fashion, especially if the message is pertinent. But more often than not we use it as a way of helping us to the next creative process. So I am left with the dilemma that every artist suffers. The creation of something bold and new that pushes the boundaries and causes us to THINK, or i can stay confined into what we all know works and what really sells. After all we need to make a living to some degree. I have decided to oscillate between the two. On one hand I can really allow my personal work to exceed all limits and on the other I will keep things at a level that I know will allow myself to stay employed.
